Active Optical Cable (AOC) is a cabling technology that accepts the same electrical inputs as a traditional copper cable, but uses optical fibre between the connectors to extend HDMI signals with zero loss or latency. The hybrid cable design consists of optical fibres and copper wires. The high-speed TMDS signals are transmitted through the optical multimode fibres, while the low frequency control signals are transmitted through the copper wires.

  • Meets all HDMI 2.1 specification requirements which include: High Dynamic Range (HDR) video
  • Bandwidth up to 48Gbps
  • 8K 4K 120HZ
  • Up to 32 audio channels for a multi-dimensional immersive audio experience
  • Up to 1536kHz audio sample frequency for the highest audio fidelity
  • Simultaneous delivery of dual video streams to multiple users on the same screen
  • Simultaneous delivery of multi-stream audio to multiple users (Up to 4)
  • Support for the wide angle theatrical 21:9 video aspect ratio
  • Dynamic synchronization of video and audio streams
  • CEC extensions provide more expanded command and control of consumer electronics devices through a single control point
  • EMI/RF free for clear signal transmission
  • Hybrid construction - multimode fibre for high-speed TMDS, copper for low frequency control signals
  • Active Optical Cable (AOC)
  • Active cables generally feature a uni-directional design. The cables feature a Display (for TV, monitors etc) and Source (DVD, media, Blu-ray player etc.) label on each connector end.
  • HDMI 2.1
  • Data Rate 48Gbps
  • Video Format 8K/4K/3D/1080p/720p @120Hz

Why choose an Active Optical HDMI cable?

Active Optical HDMI cables use optical fibre to carry the high-speed video signal, allowing reliable HDMI performance over much longer distances than traditional copper HDMI cables.

Is this cable directional?

Yes. One end is labelled Source and the other Display. The cable must be installed in the correct direction.

Will this support PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X?

Yes. The cable supports HDMI 2.1 features including up to 4K at 120Hz, making it suitable for compatible gaming consoles and TVs.

Can I run this cable through a wall or ceiling?

Yes. It's designed for long-distance AV installations, but it's recommended to test the cable before permanently concealing it and avoid tight bends during installation.
